Traditionally a person dealing in gems and jewellery is called a Jeweller. But technically there is a difference between what we know as a jeweller and what a gemologist is. In India, traditionally a jeweller is known as a SUNAAR which is usually a Goldsmith or a Silversmith.
But the Gemologist from centuries is known as a Johari.
The Joharis is the brainchild of a qualified gemologist practicing in the stream of gems & jewellery since 1998, having Fellowship of Gemological Association of Great Britain & the Fellow of Forum of Indian Gemologists.
